I recently graduated from university and although I loved being a student, I put a lot of pressure on myself as many of us do. After I graduated, I knew I needed to take some time and do something different, to give myself a break and pursue something a little more creative for a while. I modeled part time throughout school and have recently committed to it full time. I’m extremely happy to be doing something I love, working with incredibly creative people and giving my mind a little break from academics for a while. At the same time, I’m able to really reset and hone in on my wellness practices.
I think the term ‘wellness’ applies to everyone differently. The things that we strive for in order to achieve mental and physical wellness will vary depending on our needs and goals. When I deviate from my personal wellness practices, my body knows and isn’t afraid to tell me! Keeping up with my wellness routines makes me feel happier and stronger which is further motivation to keep my lifestyle up.
Tapping Trick: I’d heard about tapping before I found the CARAVAN class about it but didn’t have much faith that it actually worked. I thought I would give it a try though and it’s ended up being one of the best things I’ve taken from using CARAVAN – it’s super calming!
Ocean Breathing: Love the class on ocean breathing – in yoga it’s called Ujjayi breath – it’s so helpful and calming. It’s a good technique to know, I used to use it a lot while studying and it’s a super convenient way to deal with stress.
Abs and Core Series: I love a good ab workout and this series delivers that exactly. I’m also always looking for new exercises and things to add to my current workout routines so I found this series gave me some new moves to add to my repertoire even when I don’t have the videos in front of me.
I started my wellness journey a few years ago for two reasons. Firstly, I discovered I was lactose and gluten intolerant which made me have to be much more careful about my food choices. Because of this, I became interested in nutrition and health in general, not just to combat my sensitives, and this has broadened to living a healthy lifestyle in all facets of my life. Secondly, I found yoga as a means of stress relief and I continued to return to it whenever I need grounding. For me, these wellness practices taught me that there are simple ways to cope with most everyday inconveniences and has led me to live a simpler, more positive life.
