JOIN HAIR HEALTH EXPERT SHAB RESLAN ON HER JOURNEY WITH WELLNESS
My background as an award winning hairstylist began in Toronto and continued in NYC for the past 16 years. My years of experience involved witnessing the changes occurring to women’s hair growth. The lack in resources and solutions for women and their unique hair struggles became very apparent and did not only make my clients and myself frustrated, but left me feeling inadequate in servicing them. I simply did not have the answers to help them make sense of things. This led me to dedicate myself to the study of hair loss and scalp issues (trichology) and become the first hair health expert; understanding both the science and technique behind good hair. I feel much more fulfilled and passionate about my new approach to hair care as I’m able to help women feel empowered by understanding what proper hair health really means. The ever changing lifestyle of a modern woman has its negative effects on our hair. Things like work stress, medications, lack of sleep, improper scalp care and nutrient deficiencies are all factors to blame for the increase in thinning and hair loss for women.
Wellness has always been a major part of my life from a very young age. I grew up as a competitive figure skater which taught me the importance of treating your body and mind very well. The strong mentality and physicality required by this intense sport made me appreciate practices and habits such as proper nutrition, pilates, yoga and mental visualization in order to stay focused, learn to breath and zero in on my goals. This foundation has carried on throughout my entire life. In order to stay true and committed to health and wellness, especially when representing a platform that help others, I eat, sleep and breathe-in what I preach. Working with my clients on changing their hair care routine and incorporating new tricks has manifested into incredibly healthy and fuller hair. Although hair is a superficial part of us, it remains a marker for our health and should not be overlooked.
A few of my faves include:
Inner Monologue- Teaches me the importance of positive self-talk and the power of visualizing the outcome you seek.
Kindness and Happiness program- Reminds me of the importance of showing gratitude and the benefits for both the giver and the receiver and the impact a smile has on our overall well-being. Simple yet effective practices that are easy to follow and implement daily.
Wellness to me is being cognizant of your habits and self-respect. Incorporating the tips and tricks I’ve learned from CARAVAN as well as my own practices requires dedication and the understanding of why we do any of it at all. Incorporating extra and small wellness steps in my daily life contributes so much at the end of the day and especially at the end of the year when
This to me is the most empowering feeling ever as you hold the key to a greater and more fulfilled life.
